Get More Blog Subscribers With These 4 Free Resources

I may earn a commission from the companies mentioned in this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will add value to my readers.

Learning how to grow your email list can be daunting at first, especially if you are new to blogging. My best advice: take a deep breath, and take it one step at a time. If you do, you'll quickly learn the best strategies to get more blog subscribers and grow that list.

Whatever you do, DON’T IGNORE EMAIL MARKETING, no matter what that little voice in your head is suggesting.

Yes, I know, it seems hard, scary and completely intimidating. But trust me when I say that you'll 100% regret not starting sooner.

My friend, Emily McGee of MyAdaptableCareer.com mentioned in a recent live video in Blogger Insights that the number one thing she WISHES she did in her first year of blogging – start working on her email list.

She’s not alone in that, either.

I started my email list about 6 months into blogging. While that’s not horrible, it still delayed my success. Imagine if I had gotten started right from the beginning? Chances are thing would have gone a lot differently for me!

Growing your email list is a critical component to creating and monetizing a blog. Don’t believe me? That’s fine! But do yourself this one favor and read through the following reasons.

3 Reasons why Growing an Email List is Incredibly Useful

1. Your Email List is Always Yours

Facebook’s algorithm could change. Pinterest’s algorithm could change. Twitter could crash and burn tomorrow. So could Instagram.

The point is: you don’t control any social media platform.

No matter how many loyal followers you have there, if something were to happen with that social network, you’d be screwed.

That’s not the case with your email list.

Your email list is always yours. You can carry it with you wherever you go and no one can take it from you. It’s safe. It’s secure. It’s 100% yours. That reason is enough for me to invest whole heartedly into growing my list and passionately advocate for you to do the same!

2. Emails allow you to connect on a more personal basis with your readers.

As much as your readers love your blogs, getting an email from you that starts with, “Dear Katie [or whatever their first name is]” just feels like you’re talking directly to them.

Emails allow you to develop close relationships with your readers. Once you figure out how to attract people onto your list by offering an incredible freebie, you'll get the opportunity to engage with them on a whole new level by sending direct messages. This personal touch is one that can’t be achieved on your blog or even on your various social media profiles.

3. Emails convert

If you’re trying to monetize your site through affiliate sales or digital products that you’ve created, having an email platform is going to be such a phenomenal asset for you.

With a strong email list, you’ll be able to pitch products and generate new sales as your subscribers work their way down your preconfigured sales funnels. Email conversion rates are decent, assuming you’ve done well to nurture your subscribers with great content and build relationships!

4 Great Resources to Learn how to Get More Blog Subscribers

One thing I notice tons of people saying, “I don’t know how to get more subscribers.”

“I know it’s important but I don’t know where to start!”

So let’s clear all of that confusion up right now. I’m going to list 4 great resources (that are free) that you can use to learn how to get more subscribers for your blog.

Take advantage of these. They’re free and they’ll get you going on the right track.

1. 5-Day Email List Building Challenge

You may have heard of my 30-day List Building Challenge Group. It comes around every one in a while and it's a program that teaches you the framework for generating a solid lead generation practice on your site while also teaching you how to grow your email list like crazy. It's 30 days of goodness. Yes, it's paid. But I've created a mini 5-day version for anyone who wants to grow their list and get a taste of the program!

Over the course of 5 days, you'll get new  video content released to you. Each video will give you a strategy to implement. You'll also get access to a mastermind list building Facebook group when you choose to take the 5-day challenge!

I love the format of this challenge because it literally gives you actionable takeaways that you can (and should) implement RIGHT away. We all need a little bit of guidance and direction, am I right?

You can sign up for the free 5-day challenge right here.

2. Start a Blog & Get Your First 100 Subscribers – FREE course

Meera is the Queen of email marketing. She knows what to do, how to do it, and she’s incredibly skilled at conveying the information in language that beginner bloggers can understand. I’m a major fan of Meera so I knew I just had to share this course with all of you!

This course is hosted on the Teachable platform. So the minute you sign up (for free!), the entire course becomes available to you just like that. How nice? I much prefer this model since I don’t like to wait for email courses. I’m impatient, what can I say?

First of all, Meera walks you through the basics of getting those first few subscribers. Getting the first few is always the hardest task, but Meera makes it super easy. She even includes a cheat sheet to help you make sure that you’ve crafted the perfect lead magnet to lure in new subscribers.

When you enroll in this free course, you gain access to a swipe file, which gives you over 100 ideas for emails you can send to subscribers. You’ll also learn tips to get your subscribers to love your emails so much that they’ll look out for them (rather than deleting them right when they land in their inboxes!).

Finally, Meera covers a topic that most bloggers overlook when getting started. Most people forget that you can grow your email list even before you’ve launched your site! This free course walks you through how to set this up so that your email list grows even before you’ve hit publish on your very first blog post. Fancy stuff! 3. Download this Free Email Marketing Ebook

I downloaded this ebook several months ago and was BLOWN away by how comprehensive it is. First of all, it’s 74 pages. So shit, that’s a crap-ton of information. Sorry for the language, but I needed to get the point across.

The ebook covers extremely actionable steps you can take to grow your list. Plain and simple – you’ll walk away from the book with a million and one ideas to start implementing.

But it goes much deeper than just the basics. It dives into extremely intricate tactics that you can take to boost your subscribers from 0-100 and then from 100 to 1000 and beyond. And while talking about those tactics, they give you ALL the info. They don’t just graze the surface.

For example, they talked about hosting webinars and went into detail on the types of messages you send before each webinar, after the webinar, and even how many messages you should be sending.

This is the sort of info I’d be willing to pay for. But, of course you can have it for free by clicking right here!

Trust me when I say you’d be SILLY not to download this. Silly x10. Here’s a hint: don’t be silly x10. Click here to download the free email marketing ebook from ConvertKit.
